Elevators and escalators can now talk to each other

As a part of the KONE Care ™ program, KONE announced that it has implemented the 24/7 Connected Services Program, which uses the IBM Watson IoT platform and other advanced technologies for smart elevators and escalators.

Through this technology, elevators and escalators provide real-time and instant reports to central computers via the Cloud platform. The computer at the center also knows what all the elevators and escalators connected are doing at the time. On the other hand, being aware of the slightest errors and malfunctions occurring in the elevator and escalator systems, it follows them. Depending on the type of the problem, it solves the problem by directing the technician in the area to that elevator and escalator immediately or in case of the repetition of the problem.

The system allows real-time monitoring, analysing and following of large amounts of data obtained from elevator sensors to improve the performance, reliability and safety of equipment. For those who use lifts and escalators, this means less waiting time and more personalized experience. KONE aims to connect more than 1 million additional elevators and escalators to the cloud environment over the next five years.
