thyssenkrupp launches robotic interface platform

Thyssenkrupp Elevator North America, one of the world's leading elevator companies, launched a robotic interface platform to assist robot delivery services across the building

According to Markets and Markets, the delivery robot market is expected to increase from $ 11.9 million in 2018 to $ 34 million in 2024. Robots are used to deliver in a wide variety of areas, from hotels to hospitals, from administrative offices to shops. Companies from different sectors are increasingly investing in this technology to save labor.

Thyssenkrupp Elevator North America, one of the world's leading elevator companies, has launched a robotic interface platform to assist robot delivery services in leading US hotels and hospitals. The interface removes the restrictions that previously affected the robot movement in buildings, allowing the robot to move freely regardless of the building height. This project reinforces the commitment of thyssenkrupp, which has advanced engineering, to smarter building transportation solutions.

“We shape the smart cities of the future”

Kevin Lavallee, CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator North America, said: “Firms seeking operational efficiency have begun to assess how they can apply the almost unlimited potential of technology to their daily activities. As thyssenkrupp Elevator, we help shape the smart cities of the future with our innovative technologies and solutions that make the passenger movement, including robots, safer and more efficient for everyone. ”

Robots can use elevators like normal passengers

By combining its developed interface with delivery robots, thyssenkrupp is able to improve logistics, increase efficiency and maximize passenger experience for residents. Robots were not able to work independently at first, the use of elevators was severely restricted in multi-storey buildings. The interface of thyssenkrupp communicates between the robot and the elevator, allowing the robots to select the location and use the elevators, such as normal passengers. Robotic elevator interfaces can be implemented to assist cleaning, room and luggage services, interfaces assist robotic security guards, and assist in drug and packaging delivery.

This project of thyssenkrupp enables delivery robots to use the elevator like human passengers, make an elevator call via Wi-Fi or 4G LTE, select floors and then exit the elevator when it reaches its destination. He can determine if an elevator has enough space or if it is too full to fit the robot. All elevator communication is done wirelessly via thyssenkrupp's control panel. Only compatible with thyssenkrupp software and hardware, the interface can be installed in as little as one day.

MAX reduces elevator downtime

This project is not the first project of thyssenkrupp Elevator about automation investment. thyssenkrupp launched a pilot project in 2017 where delivery robots would be faster and more efficient. It has also launched two more technological developments that will revolutionize elevator efficiency with MAX and AGILE products. MAX, the first real-time predictable cloud-based maintenance solution that increases elevator availability and reduces downtime, currently has more than 100,000 units installed worldwide.

The elevator of the future AGILE

thyssenkrupp's AGILE elevator development package allows building managers to group passengers smarter, move people to their destinations faster, adjust passenger flow in real time, and customize touch screens and kiosks. AGILE closes the distance between traditional elevator systems and lifts of the future by providing a smart environment for unparalleled connectivity and customization.
